Step 1 — Clear and pre-treat
Empty the counters. Spray degreaser on the stove, range hood and the wall behind the cooktop. Let it dwell at least 5–10 minutes. While that works, mist tile grout with an oxygenated cleaner so the next step is easier.
Step 2 — Top-down dusting
Dust top of cabinets, light fixtures and vents before touching counters. Tampa Bay homes accumulate fine dust faster because windows stay closed for AC; if you wipe counters first, dust falls back down.
Step 3 — Appliances inside and out
Wipe the inside of the microwave with a steam bowl. Pull the refrigerator a few inches out, vacuum coils, then wipe gaskets with a damp cloth. Run an oven cleaning cycle if available, then wipe the oven door inside and out. Don't forget the dishwasher filter.
Step 4 — Sink, fixtures and disposal
Soak the strainer in vinegar. Polish stainless steel with the grain. Drop a citrus peel and ice through the disposal to neutralize odors. In Tampa's hard water, finish faucets with a calcium remover.
Step 5 — Counters, backsplash and grout
Now you can clean counters and backsplash, since dust has settled. Scrub grout lines and seal them if the kitchen sees heavy use. Quartz takes a pH-neutral cleaner; granite needs a sealer check once a year.
Step 6 — Floor and baseboards
Vacuum first, then mop. Use a damp microfiber for sealed hardwood. Tile and LVP take more water but always damp, not wet. Wipe baseboards last.
